MYLA

Myla, a nonprofit startup, is a research-based interactive virtual reality healing garden, specifically designed for children who suffer from anxiety, yet are not provided with safe open spaces.

In my role as Founder and CEO of Myla, this initiative has evolved from years of intensive research in environmental psychology and my involvement in designing and constructing community gardens through volunteer work. My professional experience as a landscape designer has further fueled my passion for addressing the persistent lack of accessible spaces, particularly among marginalized communities. Frustrated by the recurring issue of limited access to safe outdoor environments for vulnerable populations, I embarked on a journey to explore alternative solutions. This journey led to the development of Myla—a virtual, research-based garden aimed at alleviating anxiety and promoting well-being. Our work culminated in the creation of an interactive prototype utilizing Unreal Engine, which has undergone user testing and is currently undergoing refinement based on feedback from focus groups.

Through Myla, we are pioneering a novel approach to improving mental health and fostering a sense of tranquility, particularly in underserved communities. Our ongoing dedication to research and innovation underscores our commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of those we aim to serve. Comprises a dedicated team of two individuals collaborating closely with social workers in New York City. Our mission is to extend the benefits of healing gardens and their elements to children who lack access to safe outdoor spaces. Additionally, we are forging partnerships with several correctional facilities nationwide to introduce our healing garden concept within their environments.
